On the 17th and 18th of March, 2022 respectively, in Dakar (Senegal), the AuGF headed the Nigerian delegation at the General Assembly of AFROSAI (African Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions). The member institutions, also known as SAI (Supreme Audit Institutions), discussed two major topics, namely, the “Audit of the Extractive Industries Sector in Africa” and the “Integration of Big Data in the Audit of the Public Sector ”.

According to a statement made by the First President of the Cours de Comptes, Senegal, Mr. Mamadou Faye regarding Big Data (Information in large quantities) which dominated the second day of the event, Nigeria did not go unnoticed.

The AuGF in a brief speech spoke on the Audit River Niger. He said there are 9 (nine) participating countries in the Audit and the responsibilities of the participating SAIs are to first have a dedicated team with a maximum of three persons, a minimum of two with a Focal person to drive the Audit. He also said the Audit is currently at the stage of the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU)by the participating countries.

The AuGF announced that the next meeting is scheduled for the 25th to 29th April 2022 in Abuja, Nigeria. He also said that the lines of enquiry have been developed and will be finalized in the upcoming meeting.
